The ride this year will depart from  Lincoln Park located in Capitol Hill. Dandies & Quaintrelles is joined by the Capitol Hill Bid, the Fridge, BicycleSPACE, and the Bicycle House for pre-ride activities and entertainment. Upon arriving in Capitol Hill, your first stop should be at the Fridge where we’ll be accepting registration forms. You’ll have an opportunity to view art work on display by Graham Boyles titled “Thrive Despite,” and enjoy tea with scones while listening to the live music of Maureen Andary. You can travel to the Freezer for a quick bicycle stencil session before making your way to Lincoln Park to join the others, take photos, enjoy the sunshine, and ready yourself for 12:30 ride launch.

Mechanics from the  BicycleSPACE and the Bike House co-op will be on hand outside of the Fridge and then at Lincoln Park to help provide minor adjustments to your bikes. They’ll provide tools, pumps, oil, and technical support and will be ready to assist participants from 10:30 to 12:15.

Linus bicycle featuring a Brooks saddle and bag will be raffled off at the Tweed Ride afterparty “Betweed You and Me” to ticket holders in attendance. Other raffle items include riding gear by Nau. Those interested in the party should purchase tickets by 9PM Saturday. Join us at Stroga for a fashion show featuring Ginger Root Design, Junction, Elizabeth Schalk designs and Linus Bicycles. At the event, there will be free food by Coppi’s Organic and Jeffrey Jew Catering, an open bar featuring cocktails with Hendricks Gin, musical performances by Dandy Wellington, Gin Minksy, and Miss Ekatrina, and dancing to the song stylings of Drew Newton and the Midnight Society! It’s a party dandies will tell stories of for years to come.

Participants are advised to take the Metro to the Tweed Ride and get off at the Eastern Market stop. However, be forewarned that there will be delays all weekend, so please add at least 30 minutes to your travel time. It’s a few blocks away from the Fridge and a short ride from Lincoln Park. For those driving to the city from the surrounding suburbs, I suggest you park your car near Adams Morgan and take the Metro from Dupont Circle to Eastern Market. Those with tireless legs may choose to cycle directly to the Fridge from wherever your day begins.

Plans for this year’s Tweed Ride will allow for the release of groups within closer departure times from one another. Your arrival at Lincoln Park by 12:30 will ensure your journey to Adams Morgan is accompanied by your favorite fellow Dandies & Quaintrelles.

Your 5$ donation to support the efforts toward the D.C. Tweed Ride and Arts for the Aging are appreciated. It offers us additional encouragement in the continued investment of energy into a unique event and a good cause. Those who donate will be eligible to win a coupon for dinner at Marvin. (2 coupons are available at a $50 value a piece). For those who registered for the ride without a donation, it’s never to late to register with a donation.
